What is FUSAB?

The Furman University Student Activities Board (FUSAB) was founded in 1980, and hosts student-centered events on the Furman campus in Greenville, SC. For over 45 years, FUSAB’s committees have designed, planned, and presented various events including headliner concerts (The 502s, Winyah, Tinashe, Aminé, and Yung Gravy, to name a few), campus wide games like “TAG!” and Datamatch, service events for the greater upstate South Carolina community, Segway tours, a celebration of National “Something on a Stick Day,” and so much more! The Board is comprised of 60 members who undergo a three-stage application process, and is led by six Executive Council Members, four standing committee chairs, a social media coordinator, and three seasonal committee chairs. Applications are reviewed in the Fall of the academic year, while leadership is selected via an elections meeting during the Winter, beginning their position in the Spring of the calendar year.

Rowdy, aptly named for his style, is a stuffed Labrador Retriever with a backstory you wouldn’t believe. Feel free to ask any FUSABer about his adventures! Rowdy comes to all FUSAB events to cheer on the board, as well as the Furman student body overall!

Ever heard a FUSABer yell “Chandz!” when taking a picture? It might be confusing to hear, but FUSAB’s hand sign is called the “Chand” (Chicken x Hand). As FUSABers are known as chickens, this hand sign here to stay. Throw up chandz when you see a FUSABer!

fusab leadership

FUSAB is comprised of 60 Furman students, with 14 leadership positions, including a six-person Executive Council and an eight-person group of committee chairs. The Board meets altogether on Tuesdays at 6:00 P.M. Meetings are open to all Furman students, regardless of membership status.
